A trend is not a trend until it becomes obvious

Ever since the dot com buster, I have been searching for the next killer app. How hard can it be? In terms of information technologies, we have experienced following four stages:

1. Mainframe era. This is the time when information is first being put into digital form. Information is highly valuabled and centralized.

2. Workstation era. This is the time when information is being pushed down from the top to the public.

3. Network era. This is the time when information is being shared within an organization.

4. Web era. This is the time when information is shared among the public and peers.

The character of information is "democratic", it tries to reach as many people as it could.

Does this help me become the next Bill Gates? No. A trent is not obvious until it is obvious.
